Oakton Offers New Alliance Classes

Get in shape or learn about garden design by enrolling in new courses offered by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.

Gentle Moves (PED B10-01) is designed for individuals whose health has been compromised due to being overweight, Type II diabetes, arthritis, or high blood pressure. Students will perform gentle movements to help improve their quality of life. Ten-week course meets 7:15 - 8:10 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, starting Jan. 3, at the Prairie View Community Center, 6834 Dempster St., Morton Grove. Course fee is $117.

Senior Fitness (PED E53-01) is designed for adults 55 and above. Course focuses on improved joint mobility and flexibility through non-vigorous exercise. Seven-week course meets Thursdays, 9 - 10 a.m., starting Jan. 4, at the Prairie View Community Center. Course fee is $91.

Graphics (BOT E40-01) demonstrates landscape design communication methods for garden analysis and client presentation. Students must register by Jan. 2, 2007. Ten-week course meets Tuesdays, 6:30 - 9 p.m., starting Jan. 9, at the Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe. Course fee is $347.
