Gain Nutrition Know-How at Oakton's 'Healthy Eating' Class

Learn strategies for maintaining a healthy diet by enrolling in Healthy Eating (HEA E64-02, Touch-Tone 07015), offered by Oakton's Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL).

Iris Solal, a nutrition educator with more than 20 years of experience in teaching and curriculum development, will introduce meal plans based on the USDA Food Guide Pyramid and discuss ways to find hidden fats and sugars in foods. Solal developed the Integrated-Curriculum Access to Nutrition (I-CAN), a life-skills program for elementary and high school students, which earned commendation at last year's National Healthy Schools Summit in Washington, D.C.

The four-week course meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, beginning March 10, at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. The course fee is $75. Students who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years or a credit course within the last three years may register by using the Touch-Tone system at 847-635-1616 or by fax at 847-635-1448. Both methods require credit card payment (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).

For a complete schedule of ALL classes, including information about registration and fees, call 847-982-9888, press 3, or visit www.oakton.edu/cont_ed.
