meaningful and fun activities with your children by enrolling in one-day
courses offered through the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton
Community College. All featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray Hartstein
Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is for one adult
and one child.
Street
Smarts for Kids (E95-01, E95-02) explores child abduction and
attack techniques, plus strategies on how to handle threats and abuse
by adults. Two course offerings are available: children ages 5 - 10
meet 1 - 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10; children ages 11 - 16 meet 1
- 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11. Course fee is $25.
Mother/Daughter
Makeover Day (HEC S70-01) is a fun afternoon that finds mothers
and daughters focusing on current makeover trends and developing an
age-appropriate look. Bring your own makeup to learn correct application
techniques. Course is recommended for those 13 and older. Session
meets 1 - 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15. Course fee is $69.
Parent/Child
Creative Candlemaking (ART D03-01) shows how to craft a beautiful
and unique candle - without heating the wax. Course meets 2 - 3:30
p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12. Course fee is $35.

Making Class (HEC B31-01) and Fun with French Braids (HEC B32-01).
