Intermediate ESL students who have trouble reading English are invited
to enroll in free reading classes offered through the Alliance for
Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College. Classes are funded
by the Illinois Community College Board, the Office of the Secretary
of State, and the Illinois State Library.
The
purpose of these free sessions is to develop better English skills
for personal or employment purposes. These are not ESL classes, but
students may discuss individual goals with a counselor during registration.
Free reading classes start in mid-June and meet at various times and
locations throughout Oakton's district.
