Oakton Debuts Summer Arts Program for Middle School Students

Youths interested in art, music, and drama are invited to express themselves at Studio 3, a summer workshop series designed for talented students in grades 6 through 8, at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.

Two-week sessions meet 1 - 3 p.m., Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday, starting the week of July 23.

Monday and Wednesday sessions include:
Music of the City (STU E01-31), a percussion and dance class that allows students to use every day sounds as part of a unique live performance. Course fee is $120.
Comedy Theater Experience (STU E14-31), which demonstrates the foundations of comedy writing and techniques of performance. Course fee is $120.

Tuesday and Thursday sessions include:
Artist's Studio (STU E13-31), where students may explore a variety of techniques, including drawing, painting, and sculpting. All skill levels welcome. Course fee is $140.
Singing Workshop (STU E15-31), which teaches the tools necessary to become a dynamic singer. Course fee is $120.
