The
Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College offers
dozens of entertaining and enriching classes this fall. Courses are
offered evenings and weekends at various locations.
Introduction to Grant Writing (COM E14-01) teaches
the fundamentals of researching and writing grant proposals to foundations,
corporations, and the government. Six-week session meets Monday, 6:30
- 8:30 p.m., starting Sept. 17, at Evanston Township High School,
1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston. Course fee is $80.
Solving
Sudoku (REC E04-01) provides tips on how to unravel the popular
logic puzzle. Course meets 7 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Glenbrook
South High School, 4000 W. Lake Ave., Glenview. Course fee is $19.
Raks
Sharki (Belly Dancing) (PED S77-01, PED S78-01) demonstrates
belly dancing techniques for all body types and physical abilities.
Six-week course meets Thursday, starting Sept. 20, at Evanston Township
High School. Beginning course meets 6 - 7 p.m. and intermediate session
meets 7 - 8 p.m. Course fee for each section is $84.
Portraiture
in Clay (ART D29-01) focuses on form and texture in sculpting,
using terra cotta as the primary medium. Projects are geared to the
student's level of experience. Clay is sold by weight for an additional
fee. Six-week course meets Thursdays, 7 - 9 p.m., starting Sept. 20,
at the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Road, Northfield.
Course fee is $102.
