Oakton Offers Wellness Courses

Learn about healthy living by enrolling in one-day workshops offered through the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.

Cholesterol (HEA E86-01) shows how to improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels for better overall health. Course also covers how to lower risk factors for heart disease and other serious health conditions. Course meets 7 - 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, at Maine East High School, 2601 Dempster St., Park Ridge. Course fee is $20.

Fad Diets (HEA E87-01) explains why diets succeed or fail, and how they try to manipulate your body into shedding pounds. Course meets 7 - 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, at Glenbrook South High School, 4000 W. Lake Ave., Glenview. Course fee is $20.

Understanding and Slowing the Aging Process (HEA E88-01) examines the major factors that impact the aging process and how to impede their progress. Course meets 7 - 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, at Glenbrook South High School. Course fee is $20.

Other wellness classes available include: Asthma (HEA E89-01), Natural Solutions for Allergies and Sinusitis (HEA E71-01), and Osteoporosis (HEA E67-01).
