Learn Wellness Through Dancing or Diet at Oakton

Wellness comes in many forms, as evidenced by new classes being offered this fall by the Alliance for Lifelong Learning at Oakton Community College.

East Coast Swing Dance (PED C44-01) demonstrates the basic steps and movements of swing, and provides an introduction to the musical principles, social dance etiquette, and basic jazz steps. Six-week course meets Wednesdays, 7 - 8:30 p.m., starting Sept. 28, at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. Course fee is $95 per person.

Introduction to Aromatherapy (Healing Naturally with Essential Oils) (HEA C01-01) features a certified aromatherapy instructor covering the basic composition of essential oils, safety guidelines, and basic applications. Two-week course meets Thursdays, 7 - 9 p.m., starting Sept. 29, at Glenbrook South High School, 4000 W. Lake Ave., Glenview. Course fee is $50.

Back to the Real World Diet (HEA E98-01) presents factual information on how the body processes and stores food, along with sensible dietary and nutritional principles. Find out why "fad" diets don't work. Two-week course meets Tuesdays, 7 - 8:30 p.m., starting Oct. 11, at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie. Course fee is $50.
