An
exhibition of expressionistic paintings - all recent gifts to the
permanent art collection at Oakton Community College - opens Thursday,
Sept. 7, at Koehnline Museum of Art, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
"New
Acquisitions: Figurative and Abstract Expressionistic Paintings"
features more than 20 paintings by Joseph Meert (1905-1989), a student
of Thomas Hart Benton who worked as a WPA artist during the Depression.
Works by Julius Kramer (b. 1920), Arnold Blanch (1896-1968), Emil
Bisttram (1895-1976), and Matthew Ziegler (1897-1981) also are included.
The
exhibit runs through Friday, Sept. 29, and is free and open to the
public. Regular museum hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through
Friday, and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturdays.
