Oakton Emeritus Courses Focus on Religion, Current Affairs

Increase your knowledge of religion and world affairs by enrolling in Emeritus Program courses at Oakton Community College. All featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Buddhism (SOC P28-71) includes an introduction to the Buddhist religion, along with a visit to a Buddhist temple in Chicago. One-week seminar meets 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 10. Course fee is $43, which includes lunch.

Nawal El Saadawi: Egyptian Feminist (HUM S83-43) discusses the work of this political activist, who after being imprisoned and having her books banned in Egypt, continues to write about Arab women's problems and their struggles for liberation. One-week lecture meets 1 - 2:15 p.m., Wednesday, May 10. Course fee is $25.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
