Oakton Emeritus Courses Focus on History, Theater

Explore world history or absurd theater playwrights by enrolling in courses offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College.

Timelines of World History (HIS C05-93) is a condensed survey of 6,000 years of world history, from Biblical times to the present day. Course also highlights 25 people who most influenced our civilization. Five-week course meets Tuesday, 1 - 2:30 p.m., starting July 3, at Classic Residence by Hyatt, 2500 Indigo Lane, Glenview. Course fee is $60.

Theater of the Absurd: When Did We Lose Our Way? (HUM C16-91) takes on the major playwrights whose plays depart from realistic characters and situations - Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter, David Mamet, and Edward Albee. Four-week course meets Thursday, 1 - 3 p.m., starting July 5, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $50.
