Oakton Emeritus Examines Films of the 1950s

Examine archetypal films of the 1950s by enrolling in a new class offered this spring by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College.

Magnificent Obsessions: The Legacy of Douglas Sirk (HUM C13-71) considers the films of the legendary director known for capturing the spirit of the1950s. Movies to be screened and discussed include: Magnificent Obsession (1954), All That Heaven Allows (1955), Written on the Wind (1956), and The Tarnished Angels (1957). Six-week course meets Fridays, 9:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., starting Feb. 23, at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $100.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
