Oakton Emeritus Offers Fitness and Art Classes

Get in shape or brush up on your artistic skills by enrolling in classes offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. All featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Tai Chi (PED E30-61) demonstrates an ancient form of exercise to reduce stress.

Tai Chi is best practiced in loose clothing and stocking feet. This 12-week course meets 1:15 - 2:15 p.m., Mondays, starting Sept. 11. Course fee is $144.

Advanced Tai Chi (PED E31-61) further challenges students to enhance their level of awareness and relaxation. Advanced Tai Chi is best practiced in loose clothing and stocking feet. This 12-week course meets 12 - 1 p.m., Mondays, starting Sept. 11. Course fee is $144.

Draw It, Paint It (ART C99-61) helps sharpen your water color painting and wash techniques. Eight-week course meets 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., Mondays, starting Sept. 11. Course fee is $110.

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
