Enroll in Oakton Emeritus Health and Fitness Classes

Enroll in health and fitness courses offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College starting in June. Featured course meets at Oakton’s Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.

Tai Chi (PED E30-91) provides instruction about a peaceful exercise, often called meditation in motion. Tai Chi is best practiced in loose clothing and stocking feet. Ten-week course meets 1:15 – 2:15 p.m., Monday, starting June 8. Course fee is $120.

Advanced Tai Chi (PED E31-91) further challenges students to enhance their level of awareness and relaxation. Ten-week course meets 12 – 1 p.m., Monday, starting June 8. Course fee is $120.

Beginning Hatha Yoga (PED S10-91) teaches stretching, breathing, and relaxation techniques to relieve stress. Students should bring a small pillow and a mat or towel to class. Eleven-week course meets 9:15 – 10:15 a.m., Wednesday, starting June 10. Course fee is $132.

Intermediate Hatha Yoga (PED S11-91) is for those who have attended Beginning Hatha Yoga and wish to advance in their practice. Ten-week course meets 10:30 –11:30 a.m., Wednesday, starting June 10. Course fee is $132.

Chair Yoga (PED B22-91) is for those seeking the therapeutic benefits of yoga in a slower-paced course. Students will leave feeling more relaxed, limber, and refreshed. Eleven-week course meets 12 – 1 p.m., Wednesday, starting June 10. Course fee is $132.
