relations lectures offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community
College. Join local experts for an analysis of international events
and issues facing the next U.S. president.
The
10-week lecture series meets 1 - 2:30 p.m., Thursday, starting March
20, at Oakton's Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave. Seating is limited.
The
series begins with The 44th President's Gordian Knot.
Examine the global dilemmas that await the nation's next leader, including
the war in Iraq and immigration. Other lectures include: Is
Africa the Key to World Politics? (March 27); Turkish
Politics Since the Second Iraq War (April 3); The
Politics of Naming (April 10); China Rising: The
Global Impact (April 17); Battle of Four Interpretations
of Islam in Modern Iran (April 24); Grand Strategy
for a Sole Super Power (May 1); The State of Our
World (May 8); Europe: A Commentary (May
15); and Are U.S. Presidential Elections Democratic? (May
22).
The
series-only fee is $60 for in-district residents age 60 and over,
and $75 for out-of-district residents and those under age 60. Half-price
tuition does not apply.
Oakton's
Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars,
and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences
with peers age 50 and over.
