Jews,
Christians, and Muslims: All in One Family? (HIS E87-71) examines
what Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have in common and what barriers
exist between the three religions. The six-week course meets 10 a.m.
- 12 p.m. on Thursdays, starting Jan. 22 at the Ray Hartstein Campus,
7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Fundamentalism,
Modernity and the Future of Spirituality (PHL E52-71) explores
apocalyptic mythologies from Egyptian, Zoroastrian, Jewish, Christian,
and Muslim religions. The course also looks at how the literal interpretation
of these texts continues to incite religious terrorism around the
world today. The 16-week class meets 9:30 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. on Thursdays,
starting Jan. 22 at the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, 5006 Oakton St.,
Skokie.
History
of the Holocaust: A Historical Analysis (HIS 290-001) studies
the background, causes, events, and impact of the destruction of millions
of Jews in Europe through films, guest speakers, and other media.
This 17-week course meets 9:30 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. on Fridays, starting
Jan. 23 at the Ray Hartstein Campus.
Students
age 60 and over who reside within Oakton's district pay half-tuition
for Emeritus noncredit classes. Those who have registered for an Oakton
credit class within the last three years or an Alliance for Lifelong
Learning noncredit class within the last five years may register using
the Touch-Tone system by dialing 847-635-1616. Touch-Tone registration
requires payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
