The
Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College has something for everyone
on its summer schedule. All featured courses meet at Oakton's Ray
Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Beginning Hatha Yoga (PED S10-91) teaches stretching, breathing,
and relaxation techniques to relieve stress. Bring a small pillow
and a mat or towel to class. Ten-week course meets 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.,
Wednesdays, starting June 15. Course fee is $120.
Drawing
and Painting (ART C80-91) examines the arrangement and organization
of line, form, and color through composition. Six-week seminar meets
9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Wednesdays, starting June 15. Course fee is
$110.
Lee
and Grant: A Comparison (HIS C16-91) explores the lives of two
Civil War icons. Six-week course meets 10 - 11:30 a.m., Thursdays,
starting June 16. Course fee is $20.
ABCs
of Opera (MUS C16-91) presents audio and video excerpts to illustrate
the universal themes of three operas. Six-week course meets 12:30
- 2 p.m., Thursdays, starting June 16. Course fee is $70.

S11-91), The Middle East and Western Intervention in the 20th Century
(HIS C19-91), Turning Points in History (HIS C15-91), and Alexander
the Great: The First Globalist (HIS C18-91).
Oakton's
Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars,
and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences
with peers age 50 and over.
