Oakton's Emeritus Program Announces Summer Classes



Make the most of lazy summer days by taking classes offered by the Oakton Community College Emeritus Program. Featured classes meet at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Puccini, Master of Melody - His Life and Works (MUS E93-91, Touch-Tone 09957) links the life and work of this popular composer and examines a few of his famous operas, including "La Boheme," "Tosca," and "Madam Butterfly." This six-week class meets from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, beginning June 5. The course fee is $70.

Lincoln Assassination (HIS E93-91, Touch-Tone 09958) explores the myths and theories behind the murder of Abraham Lincoln. The two-week course meets from 10 - 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays, beginning June 19. The course fee is $50.

The Art of Alfred Hitchcock - Grand Illusions (HUM E97-91, Touch-Tone 09960) looks at how this master of deception manipulated audiences in films such as "Spellbound," "Stage Fright," and "Psycho." This six-week class meets from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning July 1. The course fee is $70.

Other Emeritus courses offered this summer (check complete schedule for locations) include The Bible in Art (ART C58), Movies About Movies (HUM E64), The Great Violin Concertos (MUS E83), and The Klezmer Renaissance (MUS E85).
