Courses
on current events, music, and philosophy are being offered this spring
by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. Featured courses
meet at Oakton's Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.
What's
Brewing in the News (PSE B20-72) allows participants to engage
in lively discussions about current headlines in the daily newspaper.
Five-week course meets 1 - 2:30 p.m., Friday, starting March 28. Course
fee is $60.
How
to Listen to a Symphony, Part 2 (MUS B56-71) explores the
early symphonies of Mozart and Haydn. All are welcome to discuss the
history of the early symphony. Four-week class meets 10 - 11:30 a.m.,
Wednesday, starting April 2. Course fee is $60.
Friedrich
Nietzsche: His Contribution to Modern Thought (PHL E75-71)
examines how the work of this 19th century writer has influenced modern
thought and culture. Six-week course meets 2:45 - 4:15 p.m., Thursday,
starting April 3. Course fee is $70.
