leisure time in a variety of ways through classes offered by the Emeritus
Program at Oakton Community College. All featured courses meet at
Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Advanced
Tai Chi (PED E31-72) challenges students to enhance their level
of awareness and relaxation. Wear loose clothing with stocking feet
or comfortable flat shoes. Six-week course meets 1:15 - 2:15 p.m.,
Mondays, starting April 18. Course fee is $72.
Puccini:
His Life and Works (MUS S72-71) chronicles events in the life
of Puccini, as well as his most famous operas, including La Boheme,
Tosca, and Madama Butterfly. Six-week course meets 12:30
- 2 p.m., Fridays, starting April 22. Course fee is $70.
Cinema
and the Role of "Place" (HUM B22-71) spotlights films in which
location plays a key role, including I Know Where I'm Going,
Collateral, and Touch of Evil. Six-week course meets
9:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., Fridays, starting April 22. Course fee is
$100.
Oakton's
Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars,
and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences
