New
Wine in Old Wineskins: An SDS Retrospective (PSE B03-61)
features founding members of Students for a Democratic Society in
a discussion reflecting on the lessons of the Sixties, and how they
might be applied to human rights struggles in the 21st century. This
special event meets 7:30 - 9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12. Course fee is
$5.
The
Times They Were A' Changing (HUM C06-61) takes a critical
look at important films from the turbulent Sixties. Films include
To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Cool Hand Luke (1967),
The Graduate (1967), and Easy Rider (1969). Four-week
course meets Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., starting Oct. 14.
Course fee is $60.
Drawing
and Painting (ART C80-61) invites all skill levels to learn
various forms of painting. Eight-week course meets Wednesdays, 9:30
a.m. - 12:30 p.m., starting Oct. 18. Course fee is $110.
August
Wilson: Revolutionary Playwright (HUM B38-61) examines how
this innovative writer blends language and jazz to create a new dramatic
form. Three-week course meets Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.,
starting Oct. 19. Course fee is $40.
Oakton's
Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars,
and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences
with peers age 50 and over.
