Oakton Lecture Series Examines Campaign Issues
Voting Seminars Scheduled June 15 - Sept. 7

Understand the complex campaign issues before marking your ballot in November by attending the Voter Information Lecture Series sponsored by Oakton Community College's Emeritus Program. All seminars will take place at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

The Voter Information Lecture Series will be hosted by Mandel Gomberg, CPA and Emeritus group leader, and Joyce Bremer, economics professor at Oakton. The series kicks off Tuesday, June 15 with "The Social Security System," an exploration of how the system works and what future changes may be implemented.

The series continues with the following topics:

  • July 6 - "Medicare and Prescription Drugs" provides a look at how people are affected by medical legislation and the hidden costs concerning prescriptions.
  • Aug. 3 - "The Deficit" examines how much the U.S. owes and how that debt originated.
  • Sept. 7 - "Taxes: Federal, State, and Local" takes a look at real tax costs and how they may be lowered.

The fee to attend is $25 for in-district residents age 60 and over, and $30 for out-of-district residents and those under age 60. Registration is required for the entire series; half price tuition does not apply.
