Take
a closer look at the lives of women who shaped history, in a course
offered by the Oakton Community College Emeritus Program.
Famous
Women Who Made a Difference (HIS E99-71) focuses on women in history
who made important contributions to society. Students will learn about
Beatrice Mendes, a Jewish philanthropist who helped Jews escape the
Inquisition; Fanny Kemble, a British actress and abolitionist; and
Helen Suzman, a South African opponent of apartheid and champion for
human rights. This four-week course meets 2:30 - 4 p.m. on Thursdays,
starting March 11, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave,
Skokie. Course fee is $50.
Students
age 60 and over who reside within Oakton's district pay half-tuition
for Emeritus noncredit classes. Those who have registered for an Oakton
credit class within the last three years or an Alliance for Lifelong
Learning noncredit class within the last five years may register using
the Touch-Tone system by dialing 847-635-1616. Touch-Tone registration
requires payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
