Enhance
your career by enrolling in Nonprofit Advancement, a new certificate
program at Oakton Community College designed to cover marketing, fundraising,
grant writing, public relations, and other skills needed by nonprofit
groups.
Nonprofit
Advancement is a 21-credit-hour class series that allows professionals
to complete the certificate in 18 months or less. Courses available
in fall 2004 include:
Marketing
for Nonprofit Organizations (MKT 132) emphasizes the development
of strategic planning, fundraising, and attracting volunteers. This
three-credit, seven-week course meets 6:30 - 10 p.m., starting Tuesday,
Sept. 14.
Fundraising
and Grant Writing (MKT 134) explores how nonprofits further their
mission by securing financial resources from individuals, foundations,
and government sources. This three-credit, seven-week class meets
6:30 - 10 p.m., starting Tuesday, Nov. 2.
Financial
Management of Nonprofits (MKT 136) covers the basic financial
issues and budget considerations involved in operating a nonprofit
organization. This two-credit, 14-week course meets 6 - 10:15 p.m.,
beginning Monday, Sept. 13.
In-person
registration during summer is Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. -
8 p.m. at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, and at the Ray
Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Students with current
applications or who have attended Oakton within the last three years
or Alliance of Lifelong Learning (ALL) classes within the last five
