Six Oakton Faculty Win National Excellence Award



Six Oakton Community College faculty members have been named recipients of 2003 Excellence Awards from NISOD, the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development.

Oakton winners are John D'Anca, professor of student development; Judith Mayzel, professor of library and media services; Nancy Ressler, professor of mathematics; David Rodgers, professor of environmental science and geography; Toni Rowitz, professor of English and speech and William Taylor, professor of political science.

NISOD, the outreach organization of the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas at Austin, is a nonprofit consortium of colleges and universities that share a philosophical commitment to support excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership. Established in 1989, the NISOD Excellence Awards is designed to support individual colleges in recognizing and celebrating outstanding work.

Oakton Community College offers degree and certificate programs for students preparing to earn a bachelor's degree at a four-year college or university, as well as those preparing for employment in a variety of careers. Oakton is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association, Illinois Community College Board and American Association of Community Colleges.
