Oakton Seeks Volunteer English Tutors

Volunteers interested in helping adults improve English skills are invited to a three-part training session sponsored by Volunteers in Teaching Adults (VITA) at Oakton Community College. Training is scheduled 6:30 - 10 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6; 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9; and 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Tutors should be able to pledge two to six hours weekly, and assist teachers in the English as a Second Language (ESL) and Learn to Read to Learn (LTRTL) classes. VITA tutors may volunteer at a variety of locations on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
