Oakton Offers Adult 'Back to School' Course
College 101 Supports Academic Success

Oakton Community College makes going back to school easy for non-traditional students with a new section of College 101. Designed for students age 25 and better, the class will address issues common to adults returning to school.

The 14-week class provides adult students with tips on how to balance school, work, and home; link education to employability; and refresh study and test-taking skills. The course also includes assessment testing, a math workshop to prepare for assessment, and advising. The class meets on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., starting Feb. 1.

"Oakton is working in several ways to more directly serve the needs of its growing adult population," said Donna Younger, director of Instructional Support Services. "The content and the structure of this special section of College 101 targets the issues that help adults succeed in adding school to their already busy lives."

Other courses designed to improve success in college are College 104 and 105, Computing Skills for College Success, and College 106, Career Exploration.
