Andrew Young: Harbour, an exhibition expressing a reverence
for nature, opens Thursday, Dec. 8, at Oakton Community College's
Koehnline Museum of Art, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. A free reception
with light refreshments is scheduled 5 - 8 p.m. The exhibit runs through
Friday, Jan. 27, 2006.
Young,
a Chicago-based artist, uses natural pigments to stain rice and Bristol
papers to assemble precise geometric shapes using imaginary plant
forms, flowers, and insect illustrations. His work expresses genuine
concern about the destructive consequences of human beings becoming
disconnected from the natural world and each other.
The
exhibit is free and open to the public. Museum hours are 10 a.m. -
6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturdays. For
