Audition for Iraq War Drama at Oakton
Open auditions for the Performing Arts at Oakton production of "Voices of Iraq Vets: Wake up America!," an original reader's theater performance, are scheduled 6 - 9 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12, and 6 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines.
"Voices of Iraq Vets: Wake up America!" consists of personal stories submitted to Operation Truth, a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization that gives a voice to active members of the U.S. military. These moving accounts provide a dramatic view of war's effect on young American men and women whose lives have been forever changed. The director is casting men and women of all ages and prefers that actors prepare a monologue for the audition. However, scripts will be provided. Women and people of color are encouraged to audition.
"Voices of Iraq Vets: Wake up America!" will be presented at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2; Friday, Feb. 3; and Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Des Plaines campus. For more information or to order tickets, call the Oakton Box Office at 847-635-1900.
