Enjoy
an evening of contemporary blues with the Siegel-Schwall Band, 7:30
p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, at Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln
Ave., Skokie.
One
of Chicago's most popular live acts of the 1970s, Siegel-Schwall Band
brings its unique fusion of acoustic and urban blues to Oakton's Acorn
Room. Prior to the concert, at 6:30 p.m., Corky Siegel and Jim Schwall
will host a conversation, "A History of Chicago Blues in Our Times,"
examining the music of Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and other legends.
Siegel
and Schwall met in 1964 as members of the Roosevelt University Jazz
Band. Later joined by bassist Rollo Radford and drummer Sam Lay, the
Siegel-Schwall Band released 10 albums and toured with rock legends
Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane, among others.
Sponsored
by Oakton's Emeritus Program and in part by the Illinois Art Council,
tickets for the lecture and concert are $28. Oakton's Emeritus Program
