Oakton Theater Season Opens with 'Boy Gets Girl'
Modern Romance Turns Violent in Rebecca Gilman Play

Modern love blossoms - then takes a twisted turn - in the upcoming Performing Arts at Oakton production of "Boy Gets Girl," Oct. 9-26, in Studio One, 1600 E. Golf Road in Des Plaines.

This provocative drama, written by Rebecca Gilman and directed by Karol Verson, explores the all-too-real potential of dating dangerously. Theresa, a New York writer, meets Tony, and their relationship begins to develop normally, through flowers, letters, and romantic phone calls. However, Tony soon reveals his dark side as he begins to stalk the object of his affection. His harassment eventually leads to death threats against Theresa. The Chicago Tribune praises Gilman for her "ability to shake up a theater audience with the power of her ideas."

A special $5 "sneak preview" will be held Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. Regular performances are Fridays, Oct. 10, 17, and 24 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 11, 18, and 25 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Oct. 12, 19, and 26 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for students and seniors, and $8 for group and Partner in Performance (PIP) members. Tickets can be purchased through the Oakton Box Office at 847-635-1900.

To learn more about group discounts (15 or more), call Karol Verson at 847-635-2185.
