OAKTON’S EMERITUS PROGRAM EXPLORES WORLD OF CINEMA
Are you a movie buff who loves to discuss the latest and greatest films with your friends? Join them at Friday Afternoon at the Movies (HUM E74-72, Touch-Tone 07129) a non-credit class offered by Oakton Community College’s Emeritus program.
The class meets from 1-3 p.m. on four Fridays, beginning April 13, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. The entertaining films chosen by Oakton instructor Karol Verson await your thumbs-up or thumbs-down reviews. The course fee is $55.
A new offering, Master Filmmakers: The Cinema of Stanley Kubrick (HUM E81-71, Touch-Tone 07328) explores the vision of the admired filmmaker, who expanded the language of cinema through his use of imagery and innovative storytelling techniques in such films as 2001: A Space Odyssey and Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Four films from his extraordinary body of work will be screened and discussed. This class meets from 9:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on four Tuesdays, beginning April 17. The course fee is $80.
