Oakton Names New Cross Country Coach

Australian native Paul McMahon is the new cross country coach at Oakton Community College, athletic director David Cole has announced.

McMahon, of Arlington Heights, brings to the Raiders 15 years of cross country and track experience. He is the cross country at St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, where his teams have finished in the top three in the East Suburban Conference over the last two years. McMahon also coached elementary and high school track for nine years in Australia.

"I'm excited to be working at the college level," says McMahon. "It's exciting because the athletes are so self-motivated. The Oakton squad has experienced members as well as newcomers, and I look forward to be part of building a team for the future."

McMahon graduated from Australian Catholic University in 1988, earning degrees in theology and physical education. He received his master's from Loyola University in 2001 in education and administration.
