Journey
to Costa Rica to experience the life and habitat of this exotic country
on a travel/study tour offered by Oakton Community College. Departure
dates in 2005 are Mar. 25 and Dec.2.
Begin
in San Jose, capital of Central America's most biologically diverse
country. Learn the structure of the Costa Rican government through
a special lecture at the home of a former president. Next, board the
Rain Forest Aerial Tram to glide over the rain forest canopy and view
the plant and animal life hidden within the tropical treetops. Travel
on to San Carlos, climbing to the top of Poas Volcano, one of the
largest, active volcanoes in the world. Enjoy Santa Rosa National
Park, a tropical dry forest that is home to coyotes, tapirs, and sea
and land turtles, and step into paradise on a hike through the magnificent
Butterfly Garden of Monteverde.
Finally,
spend time with local residents of San Jose at exclusive group luncheons.
An optional excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park also is available
at an additional cost.
