Experience
Costa Rica and its customs on a family vacation package offered by
Oakton Community College. This special tour is scheduled July 14-21.
Known
as "the wildlife sanctuary of the Americas," Costa Rica is famous
for its tropical rain forests, rivers, volcanoes, and beaches. This
"family discovery" vacation offers a faculty escort and national guide
who is a specialist in forestry and natural resources sciences.
After
a presentation at the home of a former president, board the Rain Forest
Aerial Tram and keep a sharp eye out for the exotic life hidden within
the treetop canopy. Travel to San Carlos and climb to the top of Poas
Volcano, one of the world's largest active volcanoes. Enjoy Santa
Rosa National Park, a dry forest inhabited by coyotes, tapirs, and
sea and land turtles, and step into paradise on a hike through the
magnificent Butterfly Garden of Monteverde.
Finally, spend time with local San Jose residents at exclusive group
luncheons. An optional excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park also
is available at an extra cost. Additional "budget" learning vacations
to Costa Rica also are available.
