Have you ever thought while reading a great book that you too could write great stories and poems? Learn to unlock your creative writing skills this spring in a non-credit course offered through Oakton's Alliance for Lifelong Learning (ALL).Living the Artists Way (ART B94-01 Touch-Tone 07290) will provide you with techniques to connect with your inner creative energies. Learn to replace creative blocks with confidence and productivity by following the principles and exercises presented in Julia Cameron's popular book, The Artists Way. Students should bring a copy of the book to class. Class meets from 10 a.m. - noon on six Saturdays, beginning April 6, at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Rd. Course fee is $79.
Creative Writing and Self Discovery (COM E43-01 Touch-Tone 07407) will help you see the world and yourself through new eyes so you can translate your unique vision into poems, stories and articles that move others. Class meets from 7:30 - 9:35 p.m. on seven Wednesdays, beginning April 10, at Niles North High School, 9800 Lawler Ave., Skokie. Course fee is $99.
Advanced Short Story Writing (COM E89-02 Touch-Tone 07414) examines various story forms and styles through writing practices and discussions, and through selected readings of published authors and the work of your fellow classmates. Students should have some experience with writing stories. Class meets from 7 - 9:15 p.m. on seven Wednesdays, beginning April 10, at Niles North high School. Course fee is $99.
Writing for Children (COM E68-02 Touch-Tone 07410) will help you create original work for children. Learn to do research, generate stories, market your work and deal with agents.Class meets from 7 - 9:30 p.m. on Seven Tuesdays, beginning April 2, at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St, Skokie. Course fee is $105.
