Oakton Early Childhood Education Center Wins Grant

The Early Childhood Education Center at Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus is the recipient of a $3,500 special needs grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services, College officials announced.

The Quality Counts Child Care Grant will be used to purchase materials and equipment to enhance the quality of care and education for children identified with special needs. Funding for the grant was obtained by Sandy Young, site coordinator, and teacher Michelle Patt.

Oakton's Early Childhood Education Center offers a stimulating curriculum that encourages exploration and skill building in social, intellectual, emotional, and physical development. The Des Plaines campus enrolls 2- to 5-year-olds in a full-day program.
