The
Early Childhood Education
Center at Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus is the
recipient of a $3,500 special needs grant from the Illinois Department
of Human Services, College officials announced.
The
Quality Counts Child Care Grant will be used to purchase materials
and equipment to enhance the quality of care and education for children
identified with special needs. Funding for the grant was obtained
by Sandy Young, site coordinator, and teacher Michelle Patt.
Oakton's
Early Childhood Education
Center offers a stimulating curriculum that encourages exploration
and skill building in social, intellectual, emotional, and physical
development. The Des Plaines campus enrolls 2- to 5-year-olds in a
full-day program.
