EXPLORE THE TIMELESS TREASURES OF EGYPT

Enjoy the many cultural treasures of Egypt when you join one of Oakton Community College's educational tours. Trips are scheduled for Oct. 13 - 25, and Nov. 10 - 22.

Beginning in Cairo, you'll visit the famous pyramids of the pharaohs, as well as the 142-foot Solar Boat of the Pharaoh Cheops, nearly 4,600 years old. From Cairo you'll continue to Abu Simbel to marvel at the rock temples built 3,500 years ago by Ramses II. Along the Nile, you'll visit the High Dam, the Granite Quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk, and the Temple of Philae. Other sites of antiquity on your tour include the Necropolis of Thebes, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the tomb of King Tutankhamun.

Throughout the tour of Egypt you'll explore famous mosques, markets and museums. As you travel to the various places, you'll sample native dishes at specially arranged meals. A visit to a private home will give you a glimpse into the everyday lives and customs of the people.
