Register Now for Oakton Emeritus Spring Classes

Register for one or more thought-provoking credit courses offered this spring by the Emeritus Program at Oakton Community College. Classes start Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, and run through Friday, May 13, 2005.

History of the Islamic Middle East in Modern Times (HIS 226-006) examines historical developments in the Middle East since the end of the 19th century. Course meets Tuesdays, 12:30 - 3:20 p.m., at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.

Topics in Literature: Asian American Literature (EGL 290-001) explores the work of writers from India, Korea, Vietnam, Japan, and China. Class meets Tuesdays, 1 - 3:50 p.m., at Oakton's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Topics in Humanities: Opera as Dramatic Art (HUM 290-001) is a thorough look at classic operas, including works by Mozart, Donizetti, Wagner, Verdi, Bizet, and Puccini. Course meets Fridays, 9 - 11:50 a.m., at the Ray Hartstein Campus in Skokie.

Other Emeritus credit courses include: Topics in Computer Information Systems: Computers for New Users I (CIS 290-001), History of Non-Western Civilization to 1900 (HIS 139-001), and Topics in Political Science: International Terrorism (PSC 290-001).

Oakton's Emeritus Program offers credit and noncredit courses, lectures, seminars, and tours, while providing a chance to share learning experiences with peers age 50 and over.
