DELVE INTO THE ART WORLD WITH OAKTON'S EMERITUS PROGRAM


Oakton Community College's Emeritus Program offers several art seminars-from watercolors to drawing-to enhance your skill with the medium. These non-credit classes meet at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

Drawing (ART B93-71, Touch-Tone 06329) teaches techniques suitable as a foundation for effective drawing. The class meets from 10 - 11 a.m. on six Mondays, beginning Feb. 25. The course fee is $84.

Watercolor/Drawing (ART C19-71, Touch-Tone 06328) improves on the skills learned in Drawing as well as studies the application of color as it applies to the use of watercolor paints. The class meets from 10 - 11:30 a.m. on six Mondays, beginning April 8. The course fee is $90.

Studio I teaches the basics of working in oil or acrylic paint. Previous drawing experience is recommended. Session I (ART B15-71, Touch-Tone 05619) meets from 9:30 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m. on eight Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 6. Session II (ART B15-72, Touch-Tone 05998) meets from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on eight Wednesdays, beginning April 3. The course fee for both sessions is $140.

Studio II is for artists who have had experience working with oils and acrylics. Students will work with painters to compare techniques and improve upon weaknesses. Session I (ART B16-71, Touch-Tone 05549) meets from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on eight Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 6. Session II (ART B16-72, Touch-Tone 06327) meets from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on eight Wednesdays, beginning April 3. The course fee for both sessions is $140.

In-district students age 60 and older pay half the listed course fee. A registration fee of $5 is required for students 60 and under and for those who live out-of-district. Persons who have registered for ALL classes within the last five years, or for a credit course in the last three, may register using the Touch-Tone phone system.
