Register now for spring 2003 classes available through Oakton Community College's Emeritus program. Designed for students age 50 and over, Emeritus offers lectures, seminars, tours, and credit and noncredit courses about diverse and fascinating topics.More than 30 new courses premiere this spring, including:
- Reel Art: Masterpieces of the Cinema (HUM 290 002)
- Great Moments in Opera (HUM 290 001)
- Art History: Modern Art (ART 113 050)
- Europe's Struggle Between the Right and the Left (HIS E88-71)
- The Middle East and North Africa in the 20th Century (HIS E92-71)
- Frida Kahlo (ART C53-71).
Also scheduled are three popular Emeritus series: Passport to the World, a program about foreign relations; Passages Seminar, lectures on topics ranging from genealogy to government; and Celebrating the Arts in Chicago, tours to local cultural events and attractions.
Classes begin the week of Jan. 12. Students age 60 and over who reside within Oakton's district pay half-tuition for Emeritus noncredit classes. Those who have registered for an Oakton credit class within the last three years or an Alliance for Lifelong Learning noncredit class within the last five years may register using the Touch-Tone system by dialing 847-635-1616. Touch-Tone registration requires payment using a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).
