Oakton Community College's Emeritus Program offers four classes on the world of music. The seminars meet at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Registration is ongoing.Windy City Blues (MUS E62-71, Touch-Tone 07942) examines the lasting influence of the distinct Chicago blues sound on popular music. This class meets from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on four Mondays, beginning April 22. The course fee is $50.
Music of the Beautiful Baroque (MUS E63-71, Touch-Tone 07944) studies the Baroque style of development of both secular and sacred works. Special emphasis will be on such Baroque masters as Vivaldi, Bach, and Handel. This class meets from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on four Tuesdays, beginning April 23. The course fee is $50.
Music's Other Impact (MUS E65-71, Touch-Tone 07946) examines the moral and political roles of music in society, and how music has been used as a social and political tool to promote orthodoxy and ideology. This class meets from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on four Wednesdays, beginning May 8. The course fee is $50.
Spring Adagio (MUS E67-71, Touch-Tone 08029) explores the highly romantic expressions of such world famous composers as Mozart, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky. The class meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on four Wednesdays, beginning May 1. The course fee is $60.
