Register now for business courses offered by Oakton's Alliance For Lifelong Learning (ALL), and see what it takes to turn your dreams of being your own boss into reality.Starting a Small Business (BUS A19-01 Touch-Tone 07338) will show you how to recognize and overcome the challenges of business start-up. Learn how to develop business plans, locate resources via the Internet, and deal with local, regional and national regulations. Classes meet from 7 - 9:30 p.m. on six Tuesdays, beginning April 9, at Maine East High School, 2601 W. Dempster St., in Park Ridge. Course fee is $70.
Protecting Your Creativity (BUS S29-01 Touch-Tone 07351) explores the laws that safeguard your innovation, invention or product. Copyright, patent, trademark and trade secret laws will be covered. Class meets from 7 - 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., in Skokie. Course fee is $32.
Buying and Selling a Business from A to Z (BUS B34-01 Touch-Tone 07345) covers the nuts and bolts of buying and selling a business. Learn how to determine fair market price and understand buyer/seller psychology. Class meets from 7 - 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, at Glenbrook North High School, 2300 Shermer Rd., in Northbrook. Course fee is $29.
Other business courses available this spring include Accounting I and Accounting II, Business Writing and Proofreading and Copywriting.
