Oakton Exhibition Combines Paintings and Poetry

Paintings inspired by poetry, and poetry stimulated by paintings, are on display as two Chicago artists combine their talents for a distinctive exhibition at Oakton's William A. Koehnline Gallery, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. Words and Pictures: Paintings by James Mesple, Poetry by Effie Mihopoulos will be on display Thursday, Dec. 9, through Jan. 28, 2005.

The public is invited to a free opening night reception 5 - 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9.

James Mesple's art is inspired by history, literature, and mythology. He studied at the University of Missouri and Chicago's School of the Art Institute, and his works are displayed in local, national, and international exhibitions. A skillful wordsmith, Effie Mihopoulos is the author of The Moon Cycle, a collection of poems inspired by Earth's lunar satellite.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
