Parents and students seeking help in paying for college are invited
to attend a "FAFSA Completion Day" workshop, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday,
Feb. 25, at the Ray Hartstein Campus of Oakton Community College,
7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. This free program is provided as a community
service to any student seeking financial aid for the 2006-2007 academic
year, regardless of the Illinois or out-of-state college they plan
to attend.
Financial
aid experts will assist families in completing the 2006-2007 Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required
for any federal or state financial assistance. Financial aid professionals
will utilize Oakton's computer labs to help families complete the
FAFSA application, which is available online through the U.S. Department
of Education.
Students
and parents should be prepared to bring the records and personal data
needed to complete the FAFSA application, including copies of 2005
income tax forms, W-2 forms, and bank statements; Social Security
cards; and driver's license and immigration cards, if applicable.
Participants may request personal assistance in English, Spanish,
and Polish.
The program is free and open to the public. Free parking in Lots A

This
event is part of College Awareness and Preparation Month, sponsored
by the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC),
Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), and Illinois Association
of Student Financial Aid Administrators.
