College Fair Maps New Roads to Bachelor's Degree
Adult learners seeking innovative ways to earn a bachelor's degree will find the direction and support they need at the Nontraditional Degree College Fair, sponsored by Oakton Community College. The fair takes place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Admission is free. From accelerated tracks that focus on independent study, to "credit for life experience" programs that compensate individuals who have mastered a variety of career skills, many schools offer a variety of creative ways for adult students to complete their bachelor's degree.
"There are many people trying to achieve their goal of earning a bachelor's degree, but who lack the option of attending traditional classes," says Laurie Gunning, of Oakton's advising and counseling department. "This fair allows those people to explore a diversity of programs, and get real answers to the questions they have about building a better future."
The Nontraditional Degree College Fair gives representatives of more than 20 Illinois colleges and universities the opportunity to share information about their school's programs. Among the institutions invited to attend are DePaul University, DeVry Institute of Technology, Elmhurst College, Kendall College, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern University, Roosevelt University, and National-Louis University.
For more information about the fair, call Laurie Gunning at 847-635-1741.
