Jazz it up with Oakton Community College faculty members as they present "Just for the Fun of It," a free jazz concert, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 25, in the Johnson Auditorium at Niles West High School, 5701 Oakton St., Skokie.Playing a repertoire of original and standard jazz compositions, the performance will feature Oakton faculty members Mark Olen on trumpet; Nick Schneider on bass; Bret Sher on percussion and drums, and Theresa Lams on woodwinds and vocals. Other performers include Frank Dawson, a guitar instructor at Columbia College, and another special guest.

The public also is invited to a free preview lecture, "Bubbie's Role as Teacher of Life," at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, in Studio One at the Des Plaines campus. Arnold Levin, Ph.D., founder of the Institute for Clinical Social Work, discusses major themes of the play, including the importance of family, the meaning of love, and the pursuit of truth and honesty.
