OAKTON TRUSTEE APPOINTED STATE CHAIR OF NATIONAL ORGANIZATION


Maxine T. Hill, chair of the Oakton Community College board of trustees, has been appointed the Illinois chair of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT).

Based in Washington D.C. the ACCT provides advocacy and trustee development opportunities to the nation's 1200 community, technical and junior colleges and their 6,500 governing board members. Hill has served on the ACCT Communication and Membership Committees, and is a current member of the Public Policy Committee. She also has played a significant role in recruiting business sponsorships for ACCT.

Also an active member of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA), Hill has served as an advisor to student trustees throughout the state and as ICCTA treasurer for two years. Since joining the Oakton board in 1995, Hill has served as vice-chair for two years, board secretary for two years, and has assumed many committee responsibilities. She was elected board chair in November 2001.

A native of Detroit, Hill earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Wayne State University. She has taught business and accounting courses at various colleges and universities throughout her career. She currently teaches children who are home- and hospital-bound. A Des Plaines resident, Hill plays an active role in community issues and local politics.
