Hubbard Street 2 Headlines Oakton Benefit

Hubbard Street 2, a special company of the internationally acclaimed dance troupe, headlines the Oakton Community College Educational Foundation's annual spring benefit at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. A reception with hors d'oeuvres and dessert will follow the performance in the Footlik Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road in Des Plaines.

Founded in 1997, Hubbard Street 2 combines theatrical, jazz, modern, and classical ballet techniques as it performs a dynamic repertoire of works by some of the nation's most promising choreographers. This young ensemble features performers between the ages of 17 and 25 and has been invited to participate in Dance Chicago, the city's most prominent independent dance festival, as well as performances in Johannesburg, South Africa, and at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C.

Tickets are $35 each with proceeds supporting scholarships, programs, and projects that promote Oakton's educational mission and goals. The performance is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency, and gifts from Edens Bank, Horwitz & Associates and Target Stores.

For more information or to order tickets, call the Office of Resource Development at 847-635-1893.
