Explore
the Emerald Isle on a two-week study/travel tour sponsored by Oakton
Community College. Four trips are scheduled for 2004: April 22 - May
6, May 20 - June 3, July 8 - 22, and Sept. 9 - 23.
Begin
in the southwest city of Killarney, known for its beautiful lakes
and mountains. Drive the "Ring of Kerry," then ride a jaunting cart
to Muckross House. Move east through County of Cork and kiss the Blarney
Stone before arriving in Cork City, home of the Shandon Bells. Tour
the Waterford Crystal factory and see Wicklow Hills. Upon arriving
in the capital city of Dublin, visit Trinity College and St. Patrick's
Cathedral. Finally, detour to the Aran Islands, where ancient Irish
culture, history, and folklore continue to thrive.
Throughout
the journey, participants will view splendid castles and historic
landmarks in each county. In addition to the beautiful sites of Ireland,
experience the culture of its people through daily encounters, selected
lectures, and traditional music sessions.
